Whirinaki Forest Park

Arbor

The Whirinaki Forest Park has magnificent virgin podocarp forest and the rare and endangered blue duck. The trees are 800 – 1000 years old and to our excitement we spotted and photographed the blue duck! We camped by a waterfall where the Maori children from the village of Minginui came to swim after school……

Enjoying your "journal" and all your exciting experiences!Coincidentally, one year ago we were in NZ , learning to drive on the left side of the highway with a RH - drive vehicle and trying to get use to the turn signals on the right hand side of the steering column..... so we know the meaning of "tense moments"! Don't be in any rush to return to Manitoba any time soon or at least untill the temp moderates somewhat!
Take care...... luv G & F
